Clean Transportation Demonstration Day

This event is free to attend and free for organizations to display alternative fuel vehicles. Attendees will include government entities, electric cooperatives and utilities, municipalities, public and private fleet personnel, and procurement decision-makers.

Funding Available for Bicycle, Pedestrian & Multimodal Planning
Application deadline April 13
The N.C. Department of Transportation is accepting applications for the 2026 Multimodal Planning Grant Program, which provides state planning funds for identifying bike and walking paths and transit connections. Multimodal planning helps communities grow with transportation systems that are safer, more connected and accessible for all users – whether driving, walking, biking or using transit.
The program is sponsored by the federal, state and local funding sources and has awarded $9.7 million to 278 municipalities, six counties and three universities since it began in 2004. Proposals are divided and judged in regions to help ensure equitable distribution of funding statewide. Selected recipients typically include a diverse mix of municipalities from large cities to small towns.
Applications must be submitted online by April 13 at 5 p.m. Award recipients will be notified by June.

NC State Parks and Recreation Trust Fund (PARTF) Grant
Application deadline May 1
The North Carolina Parks and Recreation Trust Fund (PARTF) provides matching grants to local governments to assist with public park and recreation projects. The announcement package provides the basic information about this year's grant cycle and how to apply.

Urban and Community Forestry Project Funding
The N.C. Forest Service 2026-1 Urban and Community Forestry Financial Assistance Program request for applications (RFA) are open (see dates below). More than $7.8 million in cost-share assistance is available.

GIS Supporting and Mapping Services
With Esri retiring ArcGIS Desktop as of March 1, 2026, many local governments are evaluating their GIS needs and next steps. The PTRC Planning Department offers GIS services tailored to small and medium-sized communities, whether transitioning to ArcGIS Pro, organizing spatial data, or seeking dependable mapping support. PTRC can assist with creating and maintaining zoning maps, as well as developing interactive web applications that allow the public to view zoning and other planning information online. Additional services include data management, map updates, custom analysis, and general GIS support to meet day-to-day planning and administrative needs.

Disaster Recovery Financial Administration Training - The Piedmont Triad Regional Council (PTRC), in partnership with the North Carolina Association of Regional Councils of Government (NCARCOG), is excited to announce a six-hour eLearning course designed to equip local communities with the knowledge and tools to prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies and disasters. Each user license provides individual access to the course for one learner through June 2026. The course can be taken at the user’s pace and includes learning activities, assessments, and a certificate upon successful completion of the course. More Information .
