Greensboro Transportation Plan Open House
|

The Greensboro MPO invites residents and stakeholders to a Transportation Open House on May 13, 2025, from 4–7 PM at the Barber Park Event Center (1502 Barber Park Dr, Greensboro, NC 2740). The event offers the community an opportunity to provide feedback on the Comprehensive Safety Action Plan and 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan, which aim to improve safety and guide long-term transportation investments across the region.
The Greensboro MPO wants to hear from residents, commuters, business owners, and community leaders. The survey lets you share your experiences, concerns, and ideas about transportation safety. Your feedback will directly shape the future of mobility in our region.

Calling all projects related to Water management (stormwater, drainage flood control), Stream Restoration, Water-Based Recreation Projects (greenways, park development, water access sites), and Feasibility and Engineering studies! Projects up to $200,000 with a 50% match.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: May 30, 2025
The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality Division of Water Resources (DWR) is seeking proposals for the award of federal 319(h) grant funds for fiscal year 2025 to implement watershed restoration plans that will help restore waters impaired by nonpoint sources of pollution.
DWR is seeking proposals for projects that implement a DWR-approved watershed restoration plan to restore impaired waters impacted by nonpoint source (NPS) pollution.
DWR will accept applications for FY2025 319 funding until May 30, 2025.

May is National Bike Month!
|
Join fellow students and celebrate human powered transportation on National Bike (or Roll) to School Day May 7. There are over 50 schools across North Carolina participating and upwards 1,500 events across America biking or rolling to school.
Bike to Work Week is May 12-16 and Bike to Work Day is Friday May 16. Try bicycling to work with others around the Country on this celebratory day.

PTRC Participates in 2025 Piedmont Earth Day Event

PTRC celebrated Earth Day at the annual Piedmont Earth Day Fair, organized by the Piedmont Environmental Alliance (PEA), on April 26th at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds. With more than 5,000 attendees and 110 vendors, the event was a powerful

reminder of our community’s dedication to sustainability. PTRC’s Stormwater SMART and Planning departments hosted engaging tables featuring interactive activities for both kids and adults, offering information about the importance of stormwater control, clean air, electric vehicles, and calculating individual carbon footprints. We were proud to join PEA in celebrating environmental stewardship and promoting actions that support a cleaner, greener future for our region!

North Carolina Local Food Council in Boone

PTRC’s Food Systems Coordinator, Jennifer Bedrosian, visits Boone, NC with the North Carolina Local Food Council. The group learned about Boone’s Food is Medicine programing, utilizing a community-based approach to increase local food and address food insecurity and diet-related health conditions.
