TROPICAL STORM HELENE DISASTER RECOVERY

We have all been shocked by the scenes of destruction and stories of loss in the wake of Tropical Storm Helene. A small way that we can respond to this tragedy is to seek the good of others. The Counties and municipalities of the Piedmont Triad Regional Council continue to support colleagues in the western part of the state. Links to information have been established by the State of North Carolina for those who would like to help. Follow the link below for more information.

HIGH ROCK LAKE ONE WATER EVENT

📣Calling all Town Managers and Public Works Directors

Come join us on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at the Mary Alice Warren Community Center in Lewisville for a day filled with informative topics about the importance of stormwater quality and its impact on the High Rock Lake Watershed. The event will feature opportunities to connect with local organizations dedicated to preserving our water resources. Don't miss out on this opportunity to make connections and make a difference!

The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) is drafting new state requirements to address nutrient management throughout the watershed. The proposed changes will likely impact stormwater management rules, an area that impacts YOU as a local government and resident in the watershed.

Healthy Food Financing Initiative (HFFI) Kick-Off Event

If you haven’t heard the news yet, PTRC and its Piedmont Triad Regional Food Council (PTRFC), have formed a partnership with CDFI lenders, Self-Help and Partner Community Capital for the project we are calling Growing Food Finance in the Triad. This newly formed Partnership was developed through a mutual desire to provide financial and technical assistance to eligible healthy food retailers and food enterprises in underserved areas. The five-year program will launch in 2024 to serve an area that aligns with PTRC’s region of 12 counties: Alamance; Caswell; Davidson; Davie; Forsyth; Guilford; Montgomery; Randolph; Rockingham; Stokes; Surry; and Yadkin.

We’re excited to offer trainings, convenings and other capacity-building services for food retail and food enterprises over the next 5 years!

A program kick-off event is scheduled for Friday, December 13th from 10am- 12pm at Piedmont Triad Regional Council in Kernersville. More information and registration to follow.

For questions or more information, please contact Jennifer Bedrosian, Food Systems Coordinator at jbedrosian@ptrc.org.
