Information Required to Apply to the Waiting List

THE PIEDMONT TRIAD REGIONAL COUNCIL supports the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program in the Counties of Davie, Stokes, Surry and Yadkin. The HUD assisted program requires a completed Pre-Application with an original signature. (No electronic or faxed submissions). The application must be made in person at one of our county locations. Families are placed on the Waiting List by date and time of application. Preferences for selection is given to those who are elderly, disabled, Veterans, homeless or have dependent children. You must provide PTRC with a mailing address and notify us of any changes. We will contact you by mail when your name comes to the top of the waiting list. You will be given a deadline to respond. If you do not respond or if your notice is returned as undeliverable, your name will be removed from the list.

All of our waiting lists are currently open. Please see the appropriate Housing Specialist to apply. Current wait list time is 2-5 years.

Information Required When Selected from the Waiting List

You must provide

  • copies of each household member’s birth certificate and Social Security Card 
  • documentation of income for each household member
  • documentation of medical expenses if you are elderly or disabled
  • documentation of child care expenses (if applicable)

You must present this information to the Housing Specialist in person. Do not mail the information or leave it at the County Office location. PIEDMONT TRIAD REGIONAL COUNCIL is not responsible for information mailed or left at any location.

Income Reporting and Verification

PIEDMONT TRIAD REGIONAL COUNCIL uses HUD’s Enterprise Income Verification (EIV) System to verify income for all household members. This system is linked to Social Security, Employment Security and other systems and provides us access to income reported by these agencies. Each client is required to report all household income, as well as any changes, within 10 days of any change. This includes income from any household member (regardless of age), and may be either an increase or decrease in the amount. Failure to report income or changes in income may result in termination from the program and/or criminal prosecution for fraud. Information on Security Deposits, Late Fees, and Evictions are included in the Landlord Information packet provided upon request.
