Serving as the Economic Development District (EDD) for the Piedmont Triad region, PTRDC continues its commitment to fostering sustainable, inclusive, and resilient economic growth across our 12-county region. This CEDS update builds upon the five-year 2023-2028 strategic framework released in January 2023. By engaging stakeholders through regional surveys, targeted studies, and community listening sessions, we ensured the strategy reflects the shared aspirations of residents, businesses, and local governments.

Key Achievements and Future Vision

Throughout 2023 and 2024, the PTRDC has been a driving force behind 28 impactful activities, 13 ongoing initiatives, and 9 major accomplishments, all advancing the region’s Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS). These efforts demonstrate our commitment to fostering sustainable, inclusive growth through our core four goals:

  • Strengthening Regional Competitiveness: Supporting small businesses with flexible financing and addressing workforce needs through collaborative solutions.
  • Advancing Infrastructure Modernization: Implementing projects like broadband expansion, water treatment upgrades, and green energy initiatives.
  • Promoting Community Resilience: Enhancing local food systems, tackling childcare challenges, and expanding housing opportunities.
  • Investing in Talent Development: Building partnerships with educational institutions, workforce training programs, and digital equity initiatives.

Looking ahead, the CEDS framework will continue to guide our work, focusing on priorities such as regional talent alignment strategies, disaster recovery planning, and attracting technology-driven enterprises. These initiatives reflect our unwavering dedication to creating a vibrant, equitable future for the Piedmont Triad region.
