Our best wishes to Jimmy Blake
The PTRC presented a Founders’ Award to Mr. Jimmy Blake at the December 18th, 2019 Board of Delegates meeting. PTRC presents the Founders’ Award to regional leaders of superior merit. Worthy recipients demonstrate a long-standing commitment and superior impact on regionalism in the Triad and the PTRC.
Jimmy Blake served on the PTRC Board of Delegates for over 15 years and served on the Executive Committee for 12 years, holding officer roles as secretary and treasurer. Since October 2006, he has served on the Transportation Advisory Committee of the Piedmont Triad Rural Planning and held the position of Chair since 2015. Jimmy Blake served as Mayor of Biscoe for 22 years and has dedicated a total of 40 years to public service.
Mayor Blake is known for his many achievements, including receiving a Golden Leaf Grant for $800,000 to provide for an extension of sewer across the 220 by-pass for the Mega Park, one of the most significant industrial properties in the Southeastern United States. The park presents an incredible opportunity for economic development in our region.
Jimmy is active in his community, volunteering with Sandhills Food Bank, working with inmates in the work release program and managing volunteers to teach tennis to local children. He is a member of the Biscoe Lions Club, the Montgomery County Schools Health Advisory Council, and the First Baptist Church in Biscoe.
