New Long-Term Care Ombudsman
The Area Agency on Aging is pleased to welcome LaTonya Smith as our newest Certified Long-Term Care Ombudsman. LaTonya will serve as the Ombudsman for Forsyth County Nursing Homes, Adult Care Homes and Family Care Homes. LaTonya has a Master’s Degree in Human Services and over 15 years of experience as a Social Worker in nursing homes.
The Long-Term Care Ombudsmen are advocates for resident’s rights and are responsible for investigating complaints raised by, or on behalf of, nursing home and adult care home residents. Ombudsmen work with residents, family members, concerned citizens and facilities, as well as public and private agencies, to ensure quality of life and compliance with standards of care for residents in long-term care facilities.
