PTRC wins Innovation Award
Congratulations to the Regional Planning Department on winning a NADO Innovation Award for the Triad Tomorrow – Building Our Communities For Tomorrow’s Jobs Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS).
Triad Tomorrow is the long-range, comprehensive community and economic development initiative that started in 2012 when the NC Association of Regional Councils began working on the North Carolina statewide CEDS entitled “North Carolina Tomorrow” – an initiative that received an Innovation Award from NADO in 2014. The Piedmont Triad Regional Council embraced that concept and has stayed on course with the implementation of the Goals, Strategies, and Tactics identified in their region during that process. This work was further supported through a Sustainability Grant awarded during that same time period. Triad Tomorrow has created a better understanding of the regional council’s role in community and economic development and has led to new partnerships, funding, and collaboration with local, regional, state, and federal leaders. Triad Tomorrow was developed from the region’s vision for economic development and improved quality of life. The planning process has been ongoing for the last six years of community and economic development planning throughout the region. This initiative led to the regional CEDS becoming a working document for the region, the council, and its various partners. In 2018 the annual Triad Tomorrow Summit will be expanded to include new partners such as the Piedmont Triad Partnership and the Triad Business Journal.
