Request for Qualifications (RFQ): Design-Build Services for Beeson Creek Stream Restoration

Post Date:07/01/2026 2:33 PM

Project Details:

The Town of Kernersville seeks proposals from qualified firms to deliver Design-Build services for a stream restoration project. The Town has received $2.42 million in Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) funding. The purpose of the project is to restore and stabilize a severely degraded stream reach. The Beeson Creek watershed in Kernersville has unstable streambanks due to recent flashy storms and historic channelization. These streams drain into Abbotts Creek, which flows to High Rock Lake, a water supply reservoir for several Piedmont communities. Project components will include streambank stabilization, excavation of floodplain pools for water storage and habitat enhancement and planting a diverse forest community to support wildlife. Preemptive stream restoration activities are intended to enhance stream reach and prevent further erosion, therefore protecting surrounding residential properties from negative impacts. Completing this effort will extend both environmental and social benefits to the community as a whole. The result will be a stable watershed with natural floodplain areas that hold floodwater to reduce downstream risk and improve ecological conditions in the watershed. This project will transform 1,710 linear feet of streambanks.
