The Piedmont Triad Regional Council is now accepting applications for the 2025 Growing Food Finance Grants, a funding opportunity to support local food retailers and food enterprises in expanding access to healthy foods in underserved areas across the Piedmont Triad Region.
With a total of $125,000 available in 2025, grant awards will typically range from $20,000 to $45,000, with larger awards considered for projects demonstrating significant regional impact or need. Funding is made available through the Healthy Food Financing Initiative (HFFI) Partnerships Program led by Reinvestment Fund and is part of PTRC's broader Growing Food Finance in the Triad project.
Eligible applicants include:
- Food retailers and enterprises
- Nonprofit organizations
- For-profit businesses
- Local governments and food councils
- Tribal governments
- Institutions of higher education
Eligible projects must:
- Be located in one of the 12 counties in the Piedmont Triad Region: Alamance, Caswell, Davie, Davidson, Forsyth, Guilford, Montgomery, Randolph, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry, and Yadkin
- Expand or preserve access to staple and perishable foods in underserved areas
- If the project involves retail sales, accepts or plans to accept SNAP benefits
- Strengthen the local food supply chain

- Full Applications (by invitation only): Eligible applicants will be notified via email and invited to complete a Full Application. Due December 10, 2025 at 11:59pm

Priority will be given to projects that create or retain quality jobs, support regional food systems and locally grown foods, are located in rural communities, are women or BIPOC-owned, and also plan to apply for a loan through this program.
