2025 Land Records Workshops Series

Post Date:05/29/2025 11:07 AM

The NC Secretary of State Land Records Management Division in conjunction with the NC Property Mappers Association is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the 2025 Land Records Workshops series.

These annual day-long workshops feature a variety of topics of interest to Mappers, Property Tax, GIS Professionals, Planners, Registers of Deeds, and Surveyors. We’ve attempted to locate these across the state to make them easily accessible to everyone with minimal travel. There is not a virtual option. The workshops start promptly at 8am and run to 5pm with an hour for lunch (on your own) at noon, as well as a 15-minute break between speakers in the morning and afternoon.

Registration Link: https://www.ncpropertymappers.com/event-6158046

Speakers for this year:

Nathan Bland, Land Records Consultant, NC Secretary of State (Riparian Issues)
Rich Elkins, GISP, Land Records Director, NC Secretary of State (Types of Land Ownership)
Hope Morgan, PLS/GISP/CFM, Chair of the NC Geographic Information Coordinating Council (“When Data Collides”)
Dawn Perry, Orange County GIS/Land Records (NCPMA Overview and PIN-Indexing System)
Gary Thompson, Chief of NC Geodetic Survey (County Boundaries, LiDAR Project, Datum Change)
Wes Tripp or David Evans, NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors (“Rules of Professional Conduct for Engineers and Surveyors” *counts for 1-hr ethics requirement)

Registration/Cost:

These workshops are FREE for all NCPMA Members and any governmental employees at any level (local, regional, state, or federal).
Privately employed individuals will need to pay $50 to NCPMA, but this gives you membership in that organization for the calendar year, and provides member-pricing for any  NCPMA events.

Again, lunch is not provided and is on your own. You can choose to bring a lunch, but all locations have multiple lunch options within a maximum of 10 minutes’ drive of the workshop location. Occasionally site hosts will provide some drinks and snacks, or vending machines may be available. We will send more location-specific details to those who register in advance.  We will give out certificates at the conclusion of the day for those who register far enough in advance. Others will receive certificates by email. Non-registered attendees will be accepted on a space-available basis, but are not guaranteed.

Register at the NCPMA Website:
https://www.ncpropertymappers.com/event-6158046
